The recent government whitepaper decided that an additional runway in Scotland would not be required until the
later stages of a 30 year period. BAA Scotland agrees with this but has drawn up plans for future development. Idealy
BAA would build a parallel runway approx. 390m North of the current runway. The taxi-way south of the current runway will
be re-aligned so it runs parallel to the runway, making room for additional terminal space and aircraft stands.
A new terminal would run east of the current terminals with the pier parallel to the taxi-way. BAA estimate that the new terminal
would allow Glasgow to handle 24mppa (million passengers per annum). Please visit www.baa.com/pdf/scotlandpaper/pdf for more details.
